How long does delivery take?
It usually takes a few days to prepare your order. When it ships, you will receive a tracking number by email, and delivery normally takes 1 to 3 business days after that.
Can I pay for express shipping?
Sorry, Australia Post's alcohol delivery service does not offer express delivery, so we cannot guarantee delivery by a specific date.
I only received part of my order.
Large orders are packed in more than one box. Australia Post issues a separate tracking number for each box, so the boxes may arrive separately. Please check the tracking numbers in your shipping confirmation email.
Does someone need to sign for the delivery?
Yes. As our parcels contain alcohol, they require a signature from someone aged 18 or over. An ID check may be required if the person looks under 25.
- Drivers reserve the right to refuse delivery at any time.
- Drivers may not leave a parcel unattended (Authority to Leave) if they consider it unsafe.
- If you collect your parcel from the post office, please bring your ID.
My parcel is being held at the post office.
Your parcel is waiting for collection at the post office shown in your tracking details. Please bring suitable identification to collect it.
Can I collect my order instead of having it shipped?
Sorry, we do not offer pickup at any JFC warehouse. All orders are shipped with Australia Post.
What if my parcel is returned to you?
If your order is returned to us because it was not collected or an incorrect shipping address was provided, and you request a refund instead of having it resent, we will refund the total amount paid minus the shipping fee.
Missing, Damaged & Wrong Items
My parcel hasn't arrived.
We are sorry for the delay. Please contact us with your order number and we will contact Australia Post to locate your parcel. If it is lost or damaged in transit, we will resend the items or refund you, whichever you prefer.
My item arrived damaged. What should I do?
We're sorry! Please take photos of the following and contact Australia Post or us:
- The packaging
- The parcel label (clearly showing the reference number)
- The damaged item
These photos are required for the claim, and we can then resend a new item.
I received the wrong item.
We apologise. Please contact us with your order number and we will send you the correct item. In some cases we may ask you to keep the wrong item.
Returns & Refunds
Can I return an item if I change my mind?
Due to food safety reasons, we cannot accept change-of-mind returns after delivery. If you ordered an item by mistake, please see the next question.
Can I return an item I ordered by mistake?
Please contact us with your order number and the item details (and photos if the item is damaged). Unopened items ordered by mistake are handled case by case.
What is your return policy for faulty items?
We only replace items that are defective or damaged. Our policy lasts 30 days from purchase, and items must be unused, in the same condition and in the original packaging, with proof of purchase.
Please email weborder.syd@jfcaust.com.au before sending anything back.
Can sale items be refunded?
Only regular-priced items may be refunded. Unfortunately, sale items cannot be refunded.
When will I see my refund?
Once we process your refund, you will receive a refund notification email. It then takes a few business days (up to 10) for the amount to appear in your account, depending on your bank.
I haven't received my refund yet.
Please check your bank account first, then contact your card provider or bank, as refunds can take some time to be posted. If you still haven't received it, contact us at weborder.syd@jfcaust.com.au.

Stock & Products
When will this item be back in stock?
Please contact us and we will check the expected arrival date for you. Please note that stock usually appears online a few days to a few weeks after a shipment arrives in Australia, once it has been received at our warehouse.
Do you stock a particular sake or product?
Please send us the product name. If we don't stock it, we are happy to suggest similar sakes from our range. Some products are sold only on our sister sites, such as JFC Online.
Discounts & Emails
Can I use a discount code on sale items?
Discount codes apply to non-sale items only. If your cart has both, the discount applies to the non-sale items. Codes are valid for 3 months, so you can also use yours on a later order.
My discount code or sale price wasn't applied.
We are unable to offer discounts outside the sale period. However, if a valid discount was not applied due to a system issue, please send us your order number and we will refund the difference.
The price dropped right after I ordered. Can I get the difference refunded?
We apologise for the inconvenience. Discounts cannot be applied retrospectively to orders placed before the sale started or orders that have already been shipped.
I'm not receiving your promotional emails.
Our promotional emails are sent from ecinquiry.syd@jfcaust.com.au (domain jfcaust.com.au). Please add this address to your safe senders list and check your junk folder.

You can unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any of our emails, or let us know and we will remove you. Our promotional emails are only sent from ecinquiry.syd@jfcaust.com.au. If you receive a suspicious email, please send us a screenshot and we will check it.
Business & Partnerships
Do you offer bulk discounts or trade prices?
As an online retail shop, we do not offer bulk discounts. Standard retail prices apply even for large quantities.
If you are a bottle shop, restaurant or other business, you can apply for a business account with JFC. Our sales team will then contact you about pricing and ordering. Please contact us to get started.
Can you donate products or sponsor our event?
Thank you for thinking of us. As Sake Ichiban specialises in alcohol, we are unable to support donations for school or community events.
I'm a supplier and would like you to sell my products.
Thank you for your interest. Our trade between Japan and Australia is handled by JFC Japan, so please contact them directly.
About Sake
What's the difference between Junmai, Ginjo and Daiginjo?
These grades mainly relate to how much the rice is polished and whether brewer's alcohol is added.
- Junmai – "pure rice" sake made with only rice, water, koji and yeast. Rich and full-bodied.
- Ginjo – rice polished to 60% or less. Light, fruity and aromatic.
- Daiginjo – rice polished to 50% or less. Elegant, delicate and highly aromatic.
Explore by category: Junmai, Junmai Ginjo, Junmai Daiginjo.
Should I drink sake hot or cold?
Both! Fragrant styles like Ginjo and Daiginjo are usually best chilled, while rich Junmai and Honjozo can be lovely warmed. Find your favourite in our Temperature collection: Hot, Cold or On the Rocks.
How should I store sake?
Keep sake in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Unpasteurised (nama) sake should always be refrigerated. Once opened, store the bottle in the fridge and enjoy it within a few weeks for the best flavour.
